Finally A GLEE for The Adult In Us

To be completely honest I am not much of a fan of musicals, especially the episodic type.  However my interest has been piqued after seeing the preview and I am giddy that there are NO goddamn cheerleaders!

This LOOKS GREAT! Oh did I mention that there are NO Insipid teenagers cluelessly wandering the halls in cheerleader uniforms?

Smash : Let Me Be Your Star - Katharine McPhee & Megan HIlty

Unfortunately I don’t know if there are going to be primary lesbian characters either.  However with all the sub texting and wishful thinking taking over the Lesbianet, I am happy to just watch a regular: “All About Eve” type vehicle, all wrapped up in a Chorus Line!

SMASH

The show revolves around a group of characters who come together to put on a Broadway musical based on the life of Marilyn Monroe. But before that can happen, the people who will try to bring it all together must deal with their own personal acts. The series will feature original music by composers Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman.

Starring:

  • Debra Messing [It’s about time] as Julia, a songwriter/lyricist and the musical's co-writer
  • Brian D'Arcy James as Frank, Julia's husband
  • Christian Borle as Tom, Julia's co-writing partner on the project
  • Katharine McPhee [ a cutie] as Karen, an Iowan who lands a successful audition and becomes the favorite for the role of Monroe
  • Jack Davenport as Derek, the brilliant (and womanizing) director of the musical, who is hoping for a breakout with the musical even if it means putting the lead in a compromising position
  • Megan Hilty as Ivy Lynn, a veteran actress who was favored to land the Monroe lead until Karen came into the picture. She finds herself competing with the newcomer after being told that she was too old to play the part
  • Anjelica Huston as Eileen, the musical's tenacious producer, who is dealing with divorce proceedings from her husband, which could threaten the musical
  • Raza Jaffrey as Dev, Karen's live-in boyfriend, who works at the Mayor's office

BEST OIf ALL: NO Cheerleaders! Woo Hooooooo
