GLAAD insists on securing its lips to the arse of any famous person leading me to reflect and bemuse on some cultural occurrences and personal matters resulting in the inevitable “WTF” reaction:
Former President Bill Clinton received an award from G.L.A.A.D
Seriously WTF?! G.L.A.A.D [Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation], apparently remains intent of securing its lips to the arse of celebrities and it doesn’t seem to matter that Clinton was the person who signed the Defense of Marriage Act [DOMA} into law, subsequently denying thousands of Lesbians and Gays the right to marry.
Former President Bill Clinton accepted GLAAD's 'Advocate for Change' Award at the GLAAD Awards in Los Angeles and while he did not, as GLAAD had not in its announcement that Clinton would be receiving the award, mention that he was the one who had signed it into law in 1996, one heckler (at 5:35 in the video) reminded the crowd of that fact.
"You signed it!" yelled the attendee.
Exactly! Why The Frak was Clinton given an award?!
Chees-us Cripes, what’s next? Awarding Adolf Hitler an award posthumously?
President Clinton attributed his evolution on gay rights issues to his daughter Chelsea:
"She has had a profound impact in many ways on the way I see the world. It's sort of humbling when you get to be my age when your child knows more than you do about everything....Chelsea and her gay friends and her wonderful husband have modeled to me how we should all treat each other regardless of our sexual orientation or any other artificial difference that divides us. Many of them come and join us every Thanksgiving for a meal. I have grown very attached to them. And over the years, I was forced to confront the fact that people who oppose equal rights for gays in the marriage sphere are basically acting out of concerns for their own identity, not out of respect for anyone else."

Clinton is a politician who had access to a superb education at Oxford University, where he became a Rhodes Scholar. When he was president Clinton knew the nation’s consensus and signed legislation that he believed was in accordance with public sentiment. Thanks to the efforts of the LGBT population those sentiments have changed. However that hardly means that Mr. Clinton should be credited for that change.
Also if he accredited Chelsea then shouldn‘t she have gotten the award?
GLAAD keeps doing crap like this: Giving awards to people who either 1. Initially create an environment that is hostile to the advancement of human rights [As in the case of
Clinton signing DOMA into law], or 2. In the case of Chaz Bono being awarded for doing absolutely nothing (Yes I know that he wrote a book, but he was already awarded for that].
Is GLAAD’s diagnosis of Sycophancy the result of being star-struck” and having access notable politicians and entertainers as an organization that is able to persuade them to attend functions under the ruse of receiving an award? Appears to be the case regarding Clinton.
There are individuals such as actor Charlize Theron who has NEVER waivered or Flip Flopped in her support for Marriage Equality.
On a personal level, my recent experiences left me questioning the purpose of blogging. Because of privacy concerns I won’t pblish steamy personal information and Lesberatti isn’t much of an Infotainment Blog. However I wonder what brings the readers to this site. It’s been ages since I posted about Tracie Dinwiddie, or Albert of Monaco’s illegitimate children and I am so over subtext it’s sickening. So what’s left?
