There’s Good News and There’s BAD News

First the Good News:

Dead Boss is a HILARIOUS slapstick comedy six-part series starring and co-written by Sharon Horgan, who is probably best known for her BBC series Pulling. Here she plays Helen, who has been jailed for 12 years for killing her boss. “Every day is like one of those nightmares where you realize you are revising for the wrong exam,” she says. “And then you wake up and find you have been falsely imprisoned for murdering your boss.”

Imagine Bad Girls meets Absolutely Fabulous, with a fine cameo role by Jennifer Saunders as the prison governor.

Helen shares her cell with Christina, an emotionally disturbed arsonist played by Bryonny Hannah who nabs an uncanny impression of Jane Horrock, The actress that played Edina Monsoon’s light headed assistant on Absolutely Fabulous.

From Episode 1

Helen wastes no time getting into trouble with the prison’s evil hard woman, Top Dog, who, it turns out, used to be a supply teacher at Helen’s school; and is hardly reassured by her lawyer’s promises that, “You will definitely get out of here one day.”

At the start, this looked like another trying-hard-to-be-wacky-without-actually-being-very-funny BBC Three comedy, but by halfway through the first episode it got into its stride, with succinct characterization, sly humor and a winning main character.
The writing is spot-on:
“I was born in 1971, on the Chinese Calendar that is the Year of the Cat, there is no year of the P*ssy on the Chinese Calendar.”
In addition to the humor Dead Boss is a murder mystery developing.
The Bad News:
Dead Boss is ONLY Six episodes and 3 episodes have passed…Plus...

I am DONE with Femme Fatales and have removed the posted link.  I have waited 5 episodes and have yet to see any women with women. In the first season, the first episodes were noting but girl on girl lovin' and giving dimwitted  dudes their comeuppance.

So far this season all I have seen are depictions of guy/gal action and the misleading premise that guys can last longer than 3 or 4 minutes.

Rest in Peace
