Zombie Infested 5k Obstacle Race

This is not your typical 5K. This is one where the trail is plagued with zombies, and the goal is to not only finish, but to finish alive. 3 Flags round your belt count as your vitals. Lose all 3 and you're dead on arrival at the finish line. This one was held in Boston, but there are many throughout the country.

The Guy ran the 11-o-clock time, and this films the entire thing (with some minor cuts). He ran the middle wave of that group, so if you were in that wave or a zombie between 11 and 12 then you might be seen in this.

Filmed with a GoPro camera strapped to his chest. Apologies for the bouncing and sometimes annoying noise of the camera moving a little [and the incessant sinus issues].
Hope you enjoy!

Add Some Pepper

In my first post about Season 2 of FX’s American Horror Story, I was rather pissed because the producers chose to portray the character “Pepper” as a murderous deviant, as opposed to being honest by displaying the true horror of the times, individuals affected by physical and psychological disability were institutionalized because of their disability, and appearance and never treated.

I like the character Pepper, I wish she wasn’t portrayed as a killer.

The “REAL” Pepper - Schlitzie was not a monster, or murderer. People affected by neurodevelopmental disability are unfairly portrayed in the media. Schlitze was male. he was loveable and harmless as you see in his appearance in the 1932 movie: Freaks.

For The Birds

When I was a little girl, really talking little I saw  a movie that is now considered a classic: The Birds directed by Alfred Hitchcock.

What makes this movie one of Hitchcock’s greatest films?

One of the things that stand out the most in The Birds, aside from the usual Hitchcock's signature crispness of direction, are the oddities.

For one, there's an abundance of long pauses and dearth of dialogue. There are countless scenes in which characters will just look at each other for a long time, even despite strong emotional reactions that would usually cause other characters to ask what was wrong with them. It's as if Hitchcock was conceptualizing making a film completely free of dialogue. In any event, there's successful experimentation with communicating through silence/

But this post is not about the movie The Birds, it is about Hitchcock’s relationships with his leading ladies. He had a penchant for blond actresses. Grace Kelly, Kim Novak, and Tippi Hedren, represented a Hollywood where the Blond Starlet was actually beautiful, unlike today where it seems that any emaciated or overly plump average looking blond is regaled and if she's lesbian well she's trumpeted by the online lesbian sites.

Yes I am well aware that this is probably done in an effort of inclusiveness, an attempt to boost the identity of young readers.

I am confident that the readers of Lesberatti are secure enough in their identity to understand that my view of the "Hollywood Blond" in no way embraces a notion that my ideal is something all young women should aspire to. I'm not even white and no I do not think blonds set the standard for beauty.  That's silly, they are merely another variation.

Clearly my perfect blond is a remnant of my childhood crush on Grace Kelly, who apparently had a similar effect on Alfred Hitchcock, as he valiantly attempted to emulate her after she left Hollywood for Monaco.

Happy Hall-O-Weekend!!!!!!!!!!!

Republican Richard Mourdock, candidate for Indiana's U.S. Senate seat, participates in a debate with Democrat Joe Donnelly and Libertarian Andrew Horning in a debate in New Albany, In., on Oct. 23, 2012. Mourdock said Tuesday when a woman is impregnated during a rape, "it's something God intended." He was asked during the final minutes of the debate whether abortion should be allowed in cases of rape or incest. (AP)
Well maybe if you believe that sort of thing. I am not much for organized religion , therefore I find it really difficult to fathom that there is some dude sitting in the sky with a penis of all things.

She Wore It Well

I love a woman in a suit, who doesn’t? However I like “The Pretty” even more, so match a beautiful dyke with a suit and Voila:
Everything Old is New Again, Gia very early in her career.
Now I know that some of you are probably saying to yourselves: “Not Again and it’s just not butch with the makeup and all.”
Most photos of Gia are with makeup.   You’ve seen the pictures and videos where she didn’t wear makeup and she looked just as good, plus there is the “Dyke” vibe that she radiated.

Civic Duty…

I voted the week of October 15th 2012, I did my part. Why did I vote early? Even with “Early Voting” the voting monitor at the site told me that it’s been very hectic. I presume that it will only become more active.

More importantly because I am not only a member of the 99%, I had to also take a stand for the 47% as well.

Zombie Survival 101 – Clothes

by White Glossy and Lesberatti

It’s an age-old saying that “clothes make the woman”… well, in this case its “clothes don’t make the woman… a McD’s Happy meal!”

So Far So......."Ehh"

I become invigorated when the Fall television viewing season begins, I look forward to seeing how some of my favorite actors have physically changed over the summer hiatus and I enjoy the episodic promise of a new or returning series.

Season one of American Horror Story was good [despite allowing myself to traverse a Labyrinth of confusing twists and plot reversals] and I watched it regularly. In fact I was so stoked to see season two that I was looking for the episode when it hadn’t even aired yet.

Therefore you can just imagine my sense of “ehh” when I finally watched the episode: The Asylum Pt 1.

At first I was “Wow a lesbian story arc.” quickly followed by disappointment that as usual the white character is extorted into selling the person they are supposed to love down the river.

New York appeals court strikes down DOMA

Look it’s inevitable that the Supreme Court is going to rule in favor of Marriage Equality.

Read the ruling (.PDF)

The court determined that the federal law violates the Constitution's equal protection clause. A federal appeals court in Boston made a similar ruling in May, but the moves are considered largely symbolic as the issue is expected to be eventually decided by the U.S. Supreme Court.

In February, the Obama administration ordered the Justice Department to stop defending the constitutionality of the law.

Read the ruling (.PDF)

Currently, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Iowa, Vermont, New Hampshire, New York and the District of Columbia issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples.

The Audacity of Hope is that Marriage Equality is Coming My Friends. It’s Inevitable.

Internet Woes

I live in an apartment complex with property management that is CHEAP.  That means that when my DSL goes out [which it seems to do semi-regularly] I am never quite sure if it’s the archaic wiring in the building or the  inept technicians at the internet provider.

To make matters WORSE, it seems that when I connected my Barns and Noble NOOK to my PC, the computer for some reason thought that my PC was a Mac. Initially the NOOK connected and allowed me to transfer some eBooks from my computer, but later when I restarted my computer it CRASHED!
I had to “restore” my PC to the day before to get it operational.
I do intend on moving [Just not in the very near future].

So this is why I don’t post as frequently as I used to.

Between writing a novelette, the long tumblr_m5qptbncLq1rxfub5o4_400 awaited work: “Beyond The Quiet” [The quintessential follow-up to the FemSlash masterpiece "Altered Beginning"] and creating original art. I am at times presented with variations of my muse.

It’s different when an individual like Gia Carangi is elevated to the status of icon.

Afterall Gia was only present for a couple of years with her fame, as opposed to icons like Marilyn Monroe or even Elizabeth Taylor [Who died in her 70’s]. Unlike Amy Winehouse who possessed incredible vocal ability.  Gia Carangi didn't live long enough to hone any other tangible talents such as acting or being a spokes person. Gia's only salient gift the  public experienced was that she was a remarkably beautiful lesbian.

If Gia were still alive, she and I would not be separated that much by age.  However now that I am older, it’s a fine line between paying homage and being creepy.

This is why I won’t post most images of Gia as a toddler or preteen.

Say It Isn't So LiLo……

I admit that I’m looking forward to watching Lohan portraying legendary actor Elizabeth Taylor. After all Lindsay is a competent actor (at  least when she isn’t generating unnecessary scandals by being drunk or on other intoxicants).

In fact I was almost ready to raise Lohan’s status from the: “Aww Hell To The NO!” category, a netherworld occupied by celebs of questionable talent or life choices’ like [Kim Kardashian, Silicon Booty Nicki Minaj, or Janet [I don’t care who your brother was: Whispering into a microphone isn’t singing darlin’] Jackson, just sayin'.

But it Gets WORSE! [It always seems to get worse doesn’t it?].
The scandalous Liz & Dick star hasn’t helped her flagging image in any measure by endorsing Mitt Romney on the red carpet at the launch of Mr. Pink ginseng drink last night — stars tend to take flack for claiming to vote Republican (just ask Nicki Minaj, Stacy Dash and perennial disappointment Angie Harmon) some of whose personal disasters also transcend her political affiliations at this point).

Lohan: "I just think employment is really important right now,"  — though I'd argue that any issues Lindsay has with unemployment are for different reasons than the rest of the country.

Long Overdue…

It’s Saturday October `4, 2012.  I hadn’t checked my PayPal account is ages, so I didn’t know if any contributions had been made by the readers who visit this Blog.  Needless to say that when I saw the bounty another blogger reaped from her visitors I became even more disheartened because I felt that I wasn’t liked by you.
In fact I had almost lost any remaining motivation that to continue writing.  I mean with completing my novelette, creating Original DESIGNS IN MY STUDIO AND WRITING THIS BLOG, well I felt underappreciated and that it was just too much to continue.

So I decided to  move on and look for a new vendor to sell my digital content.  I saw that Pay Pal was claiming to offer a way to sell digital content, so I signed into my account after months of ignoring it and Lo and Behold, there was money in it! The Money hadn’t come from an art sale because the site that is currently hosting the art I am selling has not recorded any sales.

And The Winner Is…………

Vice President Biden mopped the floor with right-wing poster-boy Paul Ryan. He challenged every lie, debunked every piece of spin, and told the American people the truth. It was a sight to see.

Vice Presidential Debate Results and Recap, Biden Won Debate

Joe Biden had something to say and he was eager to say it.

Does it change the needle in the Polls for Obama? Maybe it will energize the President to be more energetic, next time.
On the hyped vice presidential debate between Joe Biden and Paul Ryan,  it began at 9pm at Centre College in Danville, Kentucky. After a unremarkable  performance by Barack Obama in last week's first presidential debate against Mitt Romney, Vice President Biden found himself in position of having to reinvigorate the president's campaign. I believe that he did exceptionally well.  The only thing that the Republicans can complain about is the fact that Biden smiled incredulously during Ryan’s LIES?

Pretty sad on the part of Republicans, but I believe that the best way to combat Lies is to offer facts.  Ryan was weak on offering specific facts about taxes, about Iran.

Battle Weary

Ugh I am nonexclusively living in a Battleground State, where every single day it’s Romney/Ryan/Obama/Biden/Romney/Ryan/Obama/Biden commercials all day every single ‘friggin’ day.
This quartet has morphed into the monster known as “ObamaneyRyden.”

How disappointed was I in the President’s performance during the first debate? The word “profoundly” isn’t strong enough. I take litrle solace in the fact that it was only the first debate, because unfortunately what people cling to and remember can be summed up in two words: “Primacy” [the state of being first (as in importance, order, or rank) : preeminence] and: "Recency” [Belonging to, or occurring at a time immediately before the present]. In other words: The First and Last things].

So voters who support the President have a Lackluster first impression, while Romney’s supporters are over the Moon with his performance [Despite the facts showing that Romney’s Tax breaks will raise the deficit over 4 trillion Dollars over 10 Years].
Wait! it Gets Worse :

Couldn’t Have Said It Better Myself

Obama needs to get it together:

If Obama can’t then he should get this guy to debate for him.

I had been sitting on this  footage for some time, then I heard Singer Charlotte Sometimes' version of Apologize by One Republic and felt that it suited the video perfectly. 2 lovers, one of whom apparently screws up big time, leaving the other to deal with her emotions. Enjoy

Pitch Perfect

It’s a “Mixed-Blessing," or gift from the goddess. I was born with perfect pitch but never seriously pursued a singing career so I never formally trained to be a vocalist, although I will admit that one time I did sing in a nightclub and I guess I wasn't bad because people actually got up and danced!  Holla

My sister was the singer in the family and my brother and I were the visual artists.

Nonetheless  I appreciate great singers, however these days having a great singing voice seems more on how unique one sounds as opposed to the actual mechanics of the vocal instrument.

For me the standard of being a great singer was established by Barbara Streisand, who According to the RIAA, holds the record for the most top-ten albums of any female recording artist – a total of 31 since 1963.

This is one of my favorite songs by Barbara Streisand is from one of my favorite movies: Eyes of Laura Mars. "Prisoner," love theme from Eyes of Laura Mars.

Movie Here

What impressed me most about Streisand in this song were the vocal qualities she displayed most notably: Vibrato. Streisand  had a way of reaching the peak of a phrase and sustaining a pitch with such focused vibrato and pulsating tone that she seemed to be soaring effortlessly.

Not many singers  possess this quality these days. Oh sure I adore Joss Stone and her raspy sexy sound, as well as Mary J. Blige and Lea Michelle possesses an innate ability to channel certain dimensions of Streisand, but none of these women equal Streisand ’s insights into phrasing, legato, vibrato, interpretive nuances and, most important, the art of singing as an expression of words.

Listen to this comparison of two remarkable singers: Barbara Streisand and Whitney Houston singing Streisand ’s trademark song “My Man” from Hello Dolly. Streisand glides effortlessly in her phrasing, while Houston has a nice vibrato, however she seems unable or unwilling to sustain it as long as Streisand does and instead does a warbling technique in her approach (using trills, runs, or other melodic embellishments) .
Both approaches are amazing but I prefer Streisand 's interpretation. For me, well I regard "warbling" as vocal gymnastics, unnecessary [Nonetheless something that I wish I could do], but seriously I like Streisand's clean straight forward approach.

As it Should Be….

A judge in Pennsylvania has halted the state's harsh voter ID law. Now, Pennsylvania voters lacking photo ID will be allowed to cast a ballot this November.
Pennsylvania Republicans passed this law because they thought, by disenfranchising 750,000 voters, it was "gonna allow Governor Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania."
Granted, these days I don’t see any viable rational for not having a photo ID, we have 10 months prior to the election to obtain a photo ID, nonetheless I applaud the court’s decision to obstruct Republican efforts to prevent citizens from exercising their Constitutional rights.

I would have hoped that by this point in my life the G.O.P would have transcended the static position it has held for time eternal. Unfortunately I see that it hasn’t and is not likely to ever.
Which is why I don’t believe that Presidential debates really sway voters, in fact I don’t even understand why some voters claim to be “Undecided.”

If you are not satisfied with the way the country has been run for the past 3 and1/2 years then you should remember that Congress took every opportunity to obstruct the Obama Presidency that they could.  None of this was helped by the President’s “Can’t We All Just Get Along” and “Go With The Flow” demeanor.

Still Barack Obama is by far the “Lesser” Of Two Evils. I have a problem with Romney telling his wealthy supporters that 47% of the population will never be convinced to take responsibility for their own live, while he and his running mate want to change Medicare and Medicaid instead of taking responsibility to their own lives by explaining to their constituents that the thousands who receive Medicare benefits contributed to a program that guaranteed coverage.  Romney should tell his constituents that these Medicare recipients met the criteria that would ensure their benefits.  This is a problem for the Romney campaign and Republicans in general because in my opinion they never appear to want to take personal responsibility and contribute for their own lives and to the plan if they want to enjoy it when they retire. These  so call “Leaders” always promote subsidizing their lifestyle on the backs of those who can least afford it. The Wealthy should put more into the system if they aren’t satisfied with it.Which brings me to believe that Romney will be defeated in 2012. The Middle Class is shrinking exponentially, but appealing to their fears without providing solutions to uplift the former middle class which was devastated by a Republican controlled Congress [that thought that by further destroying the American Economy that voters would blame President Obama]. We know why the Jobs Bill wasn’t passed, We heard Mitch McConnell say that the G.O.P’s main goal was to insure that Barack Obama was a one term president.
